Hale joined the bank last year as Head of Finance

Peter Hale has been promoted to Deputy Chief Financial Officer at Afin Bank, the fintech specialist mortgage lender and savings provider.

Hale joined Afin as Head of Finance last year and was part of the team that launched the bank in July 2025. In his new position he will play a key role in developing and delivering Afin’s strategic and financial plans, as well as the financial and balance sheet management as the bank continues to grow in 2027.

Hale said: “It has been a hugely exciting period for Afin, going from launch last year to now actively helping more borrowers to get a mortgage and offering savings accounts to help customers grow their money.

“Working in a start-up bank can bring challenges, but I really enjoy being part of a fast-paced business and making a difference day-to-day. I am delighted to take on this new role and look forward to working with everyone in Afin as we continue to grow the business in the years ahead.”

Charles Resnick, Afin Bank’s Chief Financial Officer, said: “Peter has made a massive impact since he joined Afin and is a vital part of the financial team.  Peter’s knowledge and experience of banking and regulation has been of great assistance.

“He has built a solid finance team and infrastructure required for our period of growth, together with supporting on key deliverables required for a new and growing bank. This promotion is recognition of all the incredible hard work and dedication shown since joining and the important role he will play in the future of the bank.”

Afin Bank launched in July last year, just nine months after receiving its banking licence Authorisation with Restrictions (AwR) in October 2024. It supports under-served borrowers such as foreign nationals, the self-employed, people with non-standard incomes and high-net-worth borrowers, who struggle to get mortgages from mainstream lenders because of their circumstances.

It offers a range of residential and buy-to-let mortgages, as well as regulated bridging loans, for properties in England and Wales. It also provides a range of FSCS protected savings accounts, with new mortgage and savings product in the pipeline.

Afin is backed by African reinsurer WAICA Re. which has committed an initial £62m to setting up the bank.
