Afin Bank expands sales team with three new BDMs

New hires will cover the North, South and the Midlands

Afin Bank has expanded the reach of its sales team with the recruitment of three new regional Business Development Managers. The move comes as the specialist lender embarks on its second year of business with an increased proposition line up of regulated bridging alongside its existing residential and buy-to-let mortgages.

Sabiha Moghal, who will cover the Midlands, joins Afin from Charles Street Finance, but she has also had development roles at Mansfield Building Society, State Bank of India and Keystone Property Finance.

She said: “I like the fact that Afin puts the customer at the very heart of what it does and looks at the whole picture when considering someone for a mortgage. There’s no such thing as a ‘standard’ customer anymore and brokers are having to work even harder to find solutions for their clients. We will be able to help customers that the high street lenders can’t.”

Elliot Newey will be responsible for business in the North and has more than 25 years in financial services, including roles at Zephyr Homeloans and Market Financial Solutions.

He said: “The needs of borrowers are changing, whether they’ve got several incomes to get by, have a higher income and are looking for a larger loan, or they’re from overseas in the UK on a work visa. But whatever their circumstances, there’s always a person at the end of it, and I am looking forward to working with brokers to help more people to get the mortgage they need.”

Bradley Street brings almost 20 years’ experience to his role as BDM focusing on the South. He joins from Market Harborough Building Society and his experience includes stints at Hodge for Intermediaries, Secure Trust Bank, Pepper Money, Castle Trust and Halifax.

He said: “Afin will appeal to lots of brokers because of its approach to helping people, so I look forward to working with advisers and building relationships with the bank. Because Afin’s loans are underwritten individually, a strong message to brokers is ‘let’s talk’, let’s see how we can help your client where a bigger lender can’t.”

Anum Mahmood, National Sales Director, Afin, added: “There is real momentum at Afin Bank, so as we enter our second year we want to build on that with an even bigger team of skilled BDMs, dedicated to working with brokers and supporting borrowers. It’s really great to have Sabiha, Elliot and Brad onboard so we can tell the Afin story right across the country.”

Afin Bank offers residential, buy-to-let mortgages and regulated bridging on properties in England and Wales. It also offers FSCS regulated savings accounts.
