Anum Mahmood promoted to National Sales Director at Afin Bank
Jul 13, 2026 News Afin Bank
She has been key to bringing on new broker partners
Anum Mahmood has been promoted to National Sales Director at specialist lender Afin Bank. She originally joined Afin as National Key Account Manager and has been instrumental in bringing on broker partners including L&C Mortgages and Mortgage Intelligence.
Her promotion comes as the lender gears up for continued growth with the recruitment of more Business Development Managers and the launch of a new Regulated Bridging Proposition.
Afin helps borrowers underserved by mainstream lenders, usually because of their employment and income status, such as the self-employed, qualified professionals, contractors, high-net-worth customers and foreign nationals in the UK on work visas.
Mahmood said: “It is clear that a lender like Afin Bank is needed now more than ever and the reaction we get from our broker partners is that they finally have an option for their clients that do not fit the rigid tick box approach to affordability and income that bigger lenders use.
“I am delighted to become National Sales Director so I can continue to tell the Afin story and work with even more advisers and BDM colleagues who are passionate about supporting borrowers, helping more people get the mortgage they want and deserve.”
Mahmood has almost 15 years’ experience of the mortgage sector, including roles with TML (The Mortgage Lender), now part of Shawbrook Bank, Metro Bank, The New Homes Group and Alexander Hall.
Jason Oakley, CEO, Afin Bank, said: “Anum really hit the ground running when she joined Afin Bank, and her dedication and commitment to our vision has shown through in her hard work and the relationships she has built with brokers and networks.
“Promoting her to National Sales Director is recognition of her achievements so far, but it also shows how much Afin has grown since our launch last year. Anum, and John Smith, who is now our Head of Bridging, will be key in driving continued growth and supporting the underserved.”
Afin Bank offers residential, buy-to-let mortgages and regulated bridging on properties in England and Wales. It also offers FSCS regulated savings accounts.
